Heartland Creative Agency was started after seeing the same pattern over and over again: great service businesses doing excellent work, but struggling to get attention online. Not because they weren’t good at what they do — but because marketing felt confusing, time-consuming, and disconnected from the real world of running jobs, managing crews, and serving customers.
Too many agencies were offering one-size-fits-all strategies or pushing content styles that didn’t match service businesses at all. Contractors were being told to chase trends, post constantly, or turn themselves into online personalities — and it just didn’t fit.
Heartland was built to be different.

About the Founder
Heartland Creative Agency was founded by Phil Dodds after years of working closely with contractors, home service, and outdoor businesses across the Midwest. Through that work, Phil saw a consistent gap: hardworking service businesses doing excellent work, but struggling to get attention online in a way that actually reflected who they were.
Before launching Heartland Creative Agency in 2024, Phil built and helped scale three successful businesses using social media and content-driven marketing, proving firsthand how powerful consistent visibility can be when it’s done the right way. He also served as Chief Marketing Officer for a billion-dollar mortgage company, where he led large-scale marketing strategy and saw what it takes to build trust, attention, and growth at the highest level. Rather than building another agency focused on trends or influencer-style marketing, Phil set out to create something different — a marketing company rooted in Midwest values, practical systems, and respect for people who work with their hands. The goal was simple: help good businesses get seen and trusted without asking them to become marketers themselves.
Phil’s approach is shaped by real conversations with business owners — on job sites, in trucks, and through the content he shares publicly. That perspective influences how Heartland Creative Agency operates day to day: clear communication, honest strategy, and marketing that fits the realities of running a service-based business.
